FAQs

What is the Upsie Sling and how is it different from a structured carrier?
The Upsie Sling is designed specifically for the toddler phase those months where your child wants to walk, then immediately wants to be carried, then wants down again within two minutes. It is a compact, lightweight sling that folds down easily to fit in a nappy bag or under a stroller, so it's always there when you need it without taking up meaningful space. Unlike a full structured carrier, it doesn't have a waistband or dual shoulder straps it's a single cushioned shoulder strap design with a wide bucket seat, making it far faster to get on and off for frequent transitions. It is not designed to replace a structured carrier for long-distance carrying it is designed for the spontaneous, frequent short carries that define life with a toddler
From what age and weight can I use it, and is it suitable for newborns?
The Upsie Sling is designed for babies and toddlers with full head and neck control, from a minimum weight of 7.7kg up to 20.4kg approximately 6 months to 4 years old. It is not suitable for newborns or young babies who do not yet have independent head and neck control, as the single-shoulder sling design requires your child to be able to hold their head upright unaided. It supports front carry facing in and hip carry only it is not suitable for back carrying, forward-facing, or cradle carry positions. For families who want babywearing from birth, the Upsie Sling works best as a second carrier alongside a full structured carrier like the Omni Classic or Embrace for the newborn and infant phase
Will it be comfortable to wear — won't a single shoulder strap strain my shoulder?
The Upsie's single-shoulder design is specifically built to distribute weight as evenly as possible. The cushioned strap features thick padding that helps distribute weight across the shoulder for a more comfortable carry, and a safety slider keeps the strap securely in place during use. The Upsie features dual-sided adjustability, allowing for a more balanced fit designed with inclusivity in mind, it comfortably fits a wide range of body types without the hassle of one-sided strap shifting, and fits from petite to 4XL. For most parents, the Upsie is used for carries of 10–30 minutes rather than full-day wear it's the carrier you grab for a trip around the supermarket or to get through the car park, not for a multi-hour hike. For extended carries, a dual-shoulder structured carrier will always be more comfortable
Can both parents use the same sling, and is it easy to adjust between wearers?
Yes — the Upsie is designed with adjustable straps on both sides, making it quick and easy to switch between caregivers with no complicated rethreading required. A logo guide on the sling helps you position it correctly every time, so there's no guesswork when a new wearer puts it on. The adjustment range accommodates a very wide range of body types, meaning most couples can share one sling without any modification between uses one quick strap adjustment and you're ready to go
What is it made from, and is it machine washable?
The Upsie Sling is made from 100% cotton fabric and is certified to CPSC safety standards. Cotton is a natural, breathable choice that sits comfortably against both parent and toddler skin particularly relevant in Australia's warmer climate where synthetic fabrics can feel hot and uncomfortable during outdoor use. It is machine washable, which is essential for a carrier that gets daily use and inevitably comes into contact with food, sunscreen, and general toddler mess. Wash on a gentle cycle in cold water with mild detergent free of bleach, perfumes, or optical brighteners, and air dry away from direct sunlight to preserve the fabric and colour. The front pocket holds your phone, keys, and essentials — empty it before washing
