FAQs

How is the Natural Curve different from a standard C-shaped nursing pillow?
Most nursing pillows are soft, plush, and wrap-around in shape comfortable to look at but often too squishy to hold baby securely at the right height for feeding. The Natural Curve is made from high-density polyurethane foam, giving it a firm, contoured shape that retains its support throughout every feeding session without sagging or requiring readjustment. It was developed in collaboration with lactation experts to provide small infants with a much-needed boost in height so that baby's head and mouth are at an appropriate position and angle for efficient and comfortable feeding rather than leaving the parent to compensate by hunching forward. The pillow is reversible: the curved side elevates baby's head to aid digestion, while flipping it over gives a flat, firm surface for a different carry position a thoughtful dual-function design that adds genuine versatility
Will it work for my body size, and does it fit in a rocking chair with arms?
The Natural Curve's firmness and specific shape are its greatest strength and its one genuine limitation. Due to its firm, supportive nature and the goal of providing comfortable breastfeeding support, the Natural Curve does not fit well in armed rocking chairs it is too wide to sit comfortably between the armrests. For feeding in a standard armchair, sofa, or upright chair without arms it works excellently. The opening of the pillow is designed to be wide enough to accommodate parents of varied sizes, and the pillow's raised edges provide a comfortable resting place for your arms throughout a feed. If you plan to use a nursing pillow primarily in a rocking chair with arms, it is worth checking the width of the chair against the pillow before purchasing
Does it help with positioning and latch?
Yes — correct positioning is what the Natural Curve is specifically engineered for. Baby's head, neck, and body should be in a straight line, with baby's nose and mouth positioned level to and facing the nipple. Baby leads with their chin and opens their mouth widely to initiate a good latch, and should be positioned tummy-to-tummy. The downward slope of the pillow naturally keeps baby close and prevents them from rolling away, which is a common frustration with softer, flat nursing pillows. The stay-put strap keeps the pillow securely in place around your waist and prevents slipping during feeds, so you don't need to hold the pillow in place with one hand while trying to support your baby with the other. It works equally well for breastfeeding and bottle-feeding in all standard hold positions including cradle, cross-cradle, and football hold
Can I use it beyond the newborn phase — for tummy time or sitting support?
es. Beyond feeding, the Natural Curve can be used to support tummy time as your baby develops, which is crucial for strengthening neck, shoulder, and core muscles the firm foam gives babies a surface to push against and lift their head, which a soft pillow cannot provide. It can also be used during pregnancy in the third trimester as a side sleeper support pillow, helping you adopt a comfortable sleeping position when sleeping on your back or stomach is no longer possible — giving it a use case that begins before birth and extends well past the newborn feeding phase. It is not, however, designed to function as a general back support pillow for everyday sitting, as its specific contour is optimised for the feeding position
Does the foam have an odour, and how do I clean it?
Ergobaby's Natural Curve foam has one of the lowest odours on the market, but some odour may be present when new foam comes out of the packaging this dissipates quickly within approximately two days. Unwrapping the pillow and leaving it to air in a well-ventilated room before first use is all that's needed. The removable cover is machine washable essential given the nature of daily feeding use involving milk, dribble, and spit-up. The cover's plush/pile side is 100% polyester and the poplin side is 100% cotton — wash on a gentle cycle at 30°C and air dry to maintain the fabric's quality. The foam core itself should never be submerged or machine washed; spot clean with a damp cloth and mild soap if needed, and allow to dry completely before replacing the cover. Additional spare covers are available to purchase separately, which is a practical investment for daily use
